                                                 Step 3
1.   In the center of your fabric, located in Step 1, create a buttonhole large enough to accommodate your padded hanger’s hook.  You may make a machine or a hand buttonhole, whichever you prefer.  It is easier to finish this opening now while the fabric is flat, instead of after smocking.
